Description
Hsu Quandao by Paul Chen
Named after its originator, the great General Kwan Yu, the Quandao (also known as
Guandao
,
Guan Dao
or
Kwan Tao
) started life as a powerful military
weapon
weighing over 45 kg. But this pole arm has since evolved into a martial arts weapon weighing considerably less (Hanwei”s Hsu Quandao presented here is approx. 2.5 kg).
The high carbon steel blade has a distal taper for balance and is engraved with a dragon motif. A traditional bell tassel is attached to the hook. The wooden shaft terminates in a quatrefoil pommel and the guard has a distinctive antiqued finish. Light and perfectly balanced, Paul Chen’s Quandao is ideal for the martial artist training with this formidable weapon. A stand for this Quandao is also available separately (Product no. OH2290). It is masterly crafted in solid oak and displays the weapon beautifully in vertical position.
